Get it out the same day
The firm that quotes first usually wins, not because the price is better but because they were the only one who bothered. A quote sent from the van beats a better one sent next Thursday.
What a good quote carries
Your details and theirs, a unique number, the date and how long the price holds for, a clear breakdown of what is and is not included, the VAT position, and what happens next if they accept.
Common questions
How long should a quote be valid for?
Thirty days is normal, and it protects you when material prices move. Set the valid until date and it prints on the quote.
Is a quote legally binding?
A quote is an offer. If the customer accepts it before it expires, you are generally expected to honour it, which is exactly why the validity date matters. An estimate is a different thing and should be labelled as one.
Is anything sent to you?
No. It runs entirely in your browser and the PDF is made on your machine.
