Why a purchase order is worth raising
A PO is the thing that turns a phone call into an agreed price. When the supplier invoice arrives at a different number, the PO is what you point at. It also stops the same materials being ordered twice by two people.
What it should carry
A unique PO number, the date, your details and the supplier's, exactly what you are ordering with quantities and agreed prices, where it is going, and when you need it by.
Common questions
Do I have to be VAT registered to raise a PO?
No. A purchase order is a commercial document, not a tax one. If you are not registered, set the VAT option to not registered and no VAT line appears.
What number should I start at?
Anything, as long as each one is unique and you do not go backwards. PO-0001 is fine.
Is anything sent to you?
No. It runs entirely in your browser, the PDF is made on your machine, and your details are saved only in your own browser.
