What BigChange costs
They do not say. Their pricing page carries no plan names, no per-user rate, no minimum and no contract length. What it offers instead is a Request pricing button, a Get a demo button and a link to contact them. The one number on it is a claim that customers "save £5 for every £1 spent".
Several third-party sites do quote figures for BigChange. We are not going to repeat them. We could not verify any of them against BigChange's own material, and one of the sources is a direct competitor of theirs writing about them, which is no more trustworthy than us writing about them. If you want their real price you will have to take the demo and ask.
That is not automatically a bad thing. Plenty of serious software is sold that way because the answer genuinely depends on the size of your operation. But it is worth knowing before you start: you cannot find out what BigChange costs without talking to a salesperson, and you should ask about the contract length in the same conversation.

This is not a close contest on capability, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.
They are a much bigger product than we are
BigChange is an established platform built for field service operations at scale, with CRM, scheduling, a mobile app and vehicle tracking in one system. Worklot has two plans, no enterprise tier and no fleet tracking at all. If you run a fleet of vans and need to see where they are, we do not do that and they do.
Vehicle and fleet tracking
Tracking your vehicles alongside your jobs is a core part of what they sell. We have nothing in that area and no plans to build it.
Implementation, training and account management
A sales-led product usually comes with people to set it up and train your team. That is part of what you are paying for. Worklot is self-serve. You would set it up yourself, which is fine for a firm of five and genuinely not fine for a firm of eighty.
They have the track record
BigChange has years of operating history and a support organisation behind it. Worklot is new and is built by a small engineering firm in Derbyshire. Be honest with yourself about which of those you would rather be ringing when something breaks on a Friday night.

Monthly. Cancel at the end of any month. Before signing anything long with any vendor, ask what happens if you want out early, because the answer is often that you pay the remainder.

Put your engineers, your office and your apprentice on it and the price does not move. Nobody has to decide whether the new lad is worth another licence.

It is built by people who use it on real jobs
Worklot runs Bloor Engineering, a furnace and heat treatment firm in Derbyshire. The quotes, jobs and invoices going through it are real ones with real money attached.
So which should you pick
Pick BigChange if you are a field service operation of real size, you need vehicle tracking, and you want a vendor who will implement it with you and train your people. That is a completely legitimate way to buy software and we are not going to sneer at it. Take the demo, get the number, and ask about the exit terms.
Pick Worklot if there are a handful of you, you want to know the price before you talk to anybody, and you are not willing to commit to a term to find out whether something suits you. Start the trial, run a week of real jobs through it, and decide on the evidence.

What switching actually involves
Being straight with you: we do not have an importer that pulls your data out of BigChange. Your customer list comes over from a CSV, and most people start Worklot on new jobs and let the old system run down rather than moving live work mid-flight. If you are mid-contract, check your exit terms before you do anything, and run the two alongside until your term ends.

How much does BigChange cost?

Does Worklot do vehicle tracking?
No, and we are not planning to. If tracking your vans is what you need, BigChange does that and we do not.

Yes. There is no per-seat charge and no user cap. The price does not move as you add people.
Is this comparison biased?
Obviously. We make one of the two products. What we have tried to do is stick to what BigChange publishes themselves, be honest about the large areas where they are ahead of us, and not invent numbers to make a point.
